Pristine 1989 Ford Taurus SHO With 21K Miles For Sale

The Ford Taurus was among the best-selling vehicles in the U.S. for much of its existence, but in today’s world, we just don’t see as many examples of that discontinued model as we used to. There are quite a few nice, low-mile Taurus sedans and wagons popping up at collector car auctions these days, however, and that includes the high-performance Ford Taurus SHO, which has always been a fan favorite. Now, this supremely nice 1989 Ford Taurus SHO joins that group, as it looks like it could have just rolled off the showroom floor.

This 1989 Ford Taurus SHO is up for grabs at Brown Motors in Petosky, Michigan, with just over 32,732 kilometers – or around 21k miles on the clock – since it’s a Canadian import, and an asking price of $24,995. It’s finished in seemingly flawless red paint, which looks no worse for wear, and the listing doesn’t specify any scratches or dings, either. It rolls on the original wheels, which are currently wrapped in white-lettered BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires.

The gray cloth and leather interior is in equally nice condition, with little more than typical wear to note. As is the case with all SHOs, this one is well-equipped, with amenities such as power-adjustable seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a sunroof, air conditioning, cruise control, a Ford premium sound system, and power windows and door locks.

Power for this performance-focused sedan comes from the naturally-aspirated Yamaha 3.0L V6 that was originally rated to produce 220 horsepower and 200 pound-feet of toque, flowing to the front wheels via a five-speed manual transmission.

It’s been a while since we’ve seen a Ford Taurus SHO of this generation in this kind of top notch condition – May of 2023, in fact. It was then that another incredibly sanitary (and red) 1989 Ford Taurus SHO surfaced for sale at auction with 42k miles on the clock, and it wound up selling for just over $10k.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.
