Just this past February, longtime aftermarket tuner and parts maker Steeda got its hands on a refreshed version of the 2025 Ford Explorer ST, and immediately began modifying it with various exterior enhancements, lowering springs, an exhaust, and various other tweaks. Since then, Steeda has been testing out all kinds of new parts on its 2025 Ford Explorer ST, including a cold-air intake – resulting in more power and quicker acceleration. Now, it’s switching up the look of that SUV yet again.
In this recent video from Steeda, it shows off the latest additions to its 2025 Ford Explorer ST, which consist of a new set of wheels and tires. Though the SUV looked pretty great rolling on the stock 21-inch wheels, it makes perfect sense that the tuner would want to switch up the look, regardless, and take full advantage of the suspension mods that are already in place. The stock rubber measures in at 275/45, mounted to a 9-inch wide wheel, meaning that they don’t quite fill up the wheel wells, either.
Many opt to use wheel spacers to take up that extra space, but it’s always preferable to go with a wider wheel and tire, given the questionable integrity of some spacers out there. Regardless, Steeda notes that owners who want to use spacers can go with up to 1.25 inch pieces without having to trim the factory wheel studs. Going with a full-blown set of aftermarket wheels eliminates this need, however, and one can purchase a set that fits however they’d like.
In this case, Steeda opted to go with 22-inch Velgen VF10 wheels that are 10.5 inches wide and have a 30mm offset, which fills up the wheel wells and also takes up some of the gap as well – not to mention that in this case, the swap saves nearly 60 pounds compared to the stock setup. They’re wrapped in Nitto NT420Vs tires, measuring in at 285/40 – which provides enough sidewall that it retains factory ride quality characteristics, to boot.
