Back in August, we spotted a 1997 Lincoln Town Car Miyagata-style hearse pop up for auction with just under $20k miles on the clock, which was notable for a number of obvious reasons. The biggest one is the fact that we don’t see these sorts of things – at least, in the U.S. – very often. It was imported into America just last year, and with no reserve price set, it wound up hammering for just $5,600 the last time it crossed the virtual auction block. Now, it looks like the lucky bidder who brought it home is trying to make a bit of money on that purchase.
Those interested in scoring this 1997 Lincoln Town Car Miyagata hearse that missed out the last time will get another chance to do so at Mecum’s upcoming 2025 Las Vegas auction next month, and it still has just a hair under 20k miles on the odometer.
The left-hand drive hearse conversion is fitted with a variety of ornate, hand‑crafted details that remain inline with traditional Japanese funeral customs. The giant, golden dragon riding atop the vehicle is the most obvious, of course, and it’s part of a highly detailed piece that’s truly show-worthy. Open up that addition, and it’s more of the same, as the inside is also beautifully crafted and highly detailed, though the front cabin remains unchanged.
Otherwise, this Lincoln Town Car is essentially stock, still equipped with the original, naturally-aspirated 4.6L Ford V8, which was factory-rated to produce 190 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque, mated to a four-speed automatic transmission.
One thing that has changed on this ultra-unique Lincoln Town Car are the wheels it’s rolling on – when we last saw it, those rollers looked like the original silver units, but now, the hearse rides on a set of 15-inch gold wire wheels that match its unique exterior additions.
A perfect hue for the muscle car.
It's quite custom in more ways than one.
Debuting a lot of tech that's standard fare on the modern F-150.
It's hit or miss on these things, isn't it?
Including several aesthetic packages.
