Clankers See Past 2027 Ford Excursion Clickbait: AI Slop Report

Closely related to the Ford Super Duty, the Ford Excursion was a heavy-duty, three-row SUV often considered one of The Blue Oval’s riskier gambles. The workhorse-slash-family-hauler's lifespan was short, ultimately done in by rising fuel costs and poor fuel efficiency, and was phased out after the 2005 model year. That said, the Excursion seems to have a cult following these days, making it susceptible to artificial intelligence generated content meant to deceive - but when one searches for the 2027 Ford Excursion, the opposite seems to be true.

Clankers - or AI bots - actually recognize that the Excursion is still very dead. In fact, punching "2027 Ford Excursion" into a search engine like Google returns some surprisingly accurate results: that the model is completely made up, and that Ford has not made any announcements regarding the three-row SUV's return. "Ford discontinued the model in 2005," Google's AI overview relays, "and the automaker has not yet announced a new one."

2026 Ford Excursion rendering by Ford Authority

It then goes on to opine about a potential 2027 Ford Excursion, with information largely driven by fan concepts and rumors. The AI overview states that presumably, a 2027 Excursion would be based on the Super Duty like its predecessor, harnessing the 7.3L Godzilla V8 as well as a potential diesel option. It even refers back to the rendering Ford Authority made of a modern Ford Excursion - which we explicitly stated was completely fake and just for fun, mind you - and outlines that we said it could be a heavy duty hauler capable of hauling up to 20,000 pounds.

However, at the bottom of the overview, the AI undermines itself by directing viewers to information about the 2025 Ford Excursion, which, as previously stated, does not exist. It also fell for rumors about the 2026 model year Excursion, another falsified model with zero basis in reality.

That should be a clear indication that nothing AI treats as fact should be believed without secondary research. However, sometimes it gets it right - it did for the 2027 Lincoln Continental, at least, and, hilariously, called out fellow AIs over news on the 2027 Ford Everest.
