Ford Bronco EV, EREV Pre-Orders Open In China

While the sixth-generation Ford Bronco has been on sale in China for a while now, an all-new model debuted for that same market recently with both all-electric and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) powertrains, and even a Basecamp variant with a pop-up roof for camping purposes. That SUV is actually a bit longer than the regular Bronco, with styling that looks more like it was inspired by the Bronco Sport, interestingly enough. Now, pre-orders for the new Ford Bronco EV and EREV are officially open.

According to Car News China, customers in that part of the world can secure their spot in line for a Ford Bronco EV or EREV with a deposit of 1,000 yuan ($140 USD). As an added bonus, those that do so now will get the “One-Touch Roof Camping Package” for free, which includes an electric-lifting roof and one-touch automatically folding front seat headrests. That package will normally cost 12,000 yuan ($1,700 USD), so it’s a pretty enticing offer.

As Ford Authority previously reported, the new Chinese Ford Bronco will be built by the Jiangling Ford (JMC) joint-venture, and both the EV and EREV will utilize BYD FinDreams lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs. Interestingly, it has the same wheelbase as the regular Bronco, but is a bit longer overall.

The EREV utilizes a turbocharged 1.5L gas range extender with two electric motors – a 130 kW unit up front and a 180 kW piece in the rear – as well as a 43.7 kWh battery pack. Pure EV range comes in at 220 kilometers (137 miles), or 1,220 kilometers (758 miles) with the gas extender added to the mix.

As for the EV, it utilizes a 105.4 kWh battery pack, along with a 130 kW electric motor up front and a 202 kW unit out back, delivering 650 kilometers (404 miles) of max range. Other than these interesting features, the new Chinese Ford Bronco also touts advanced navigation features such as route planning and sharing, to boot. Either way, the new Chinese Bronco is slated to launch in Q4 2025, or as soon as later this month, according to a recent report.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.
