Ford Explorer, Lincoln Nautilus Hybrids Recalled Over Missing Pedestrian Alert Sound

Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2025 Ford Explorer Police Interceptor Utility hybrids and 2024-2026 Lincoln Nautilus hybrid models over an issue with the pedestrian alert sound system.

The defect: in affected vehicles, a software error may prevent the vehicle from emitting the pedestrian warning sound at certain speeds.

The hazards: a vehicle that does not produce a warning sound may fail to alert pedestrians of an approaching vehicle, increasing the risk of injury.

Ford is not aware of any reports of accidents or injuries related to this condition.

Components: audio control module and digital signal processing module software

Affected vehicles: select 2024-2026 Lincoln Nautilus hybrid models built between April 4th, 2023, and September 23rd, 2025, as well as certain 2025 Ford Explorer Police Interceptor Utility hybrids produced from December 8th, 2023, and September 26th, 2025.

Number of vehicles affected: 43,438

The fix: the audio control module and digital signal processing module software will be updated by a dealer, or through an over-the-air (OTA) update, free of charge.
