The Ford Ranger is an extremely important product for The Blue Oval in many global markets, but arguably none more than Australia. There, the Ranger is Ford’s best-selling model and generally near the top in terms of all vehicles, which is precisely why Ford Australia played such a critical role in developing the latest-generation model – as well as the heavy-duty Ranger Super Duty, and the pickup gets plenty of Australia-only variants, too. Thus, it should come as no surprise to learn that Australia is the first to get the all-new Ford Pro Converter program, too.
According to CarExpert, the Ford Pro Converter program has launched in Australia as a factory-backed way to complete more complex upfitting tasks related to the Ranger’s chassis and various other components. For now, the Ranger is the only model that qualifies for the program, but it will eventually expand to others, including the Ford F-150, Ford Transit, and Transit Custom range.
The Ranger Super Duty is specifically designed for such modifications, but the Ford Pro Converter program aims to make it easier for businesses to outfit trucks in a manner that suits them the best – and with work done by qualified shops that must first go through a certification program. The idea is to simplify that process for larger fleet customers that need to install complex parts on a variety of vehicles, and where delays in that process can have serious implications.
Ford Australia has already established six Ford Pro Converter sites, including Bull Motor Bodies, Duratray, Hidrive, MITS Alloy, Norweld, and XL Service Bodies. Each of those locations offers Ford-approved modifications and parts that are covered by a five-year, unlimited-mile warranty, and completed Rangers are delivered to the customer with one single invoice after the vehicles are purchased from a dealer and those modifications are completed.
