We’ve seen our fair share of automotive memorabilia cross various auction blocks over the years, oftentimes commanding lots of attention and bids. These types of things run the gamut from signs to toy models to peddle cars and old gas pumps, to name just a few, and there are even entire auctions dedicated to such objects. Then there are wooden display models, which have become quite popular in recent times, too. Now, this rather different sort of Ford Taurus NASCAR display model joins that list.
This Ford Taurus NASCAR racer display model up for auction at Bring a Trailer looks a heck of a lot like the real thing, at least, in photos, but it’s actually not a drivable vehicle. Rather, it was made from plastic, designed to look like the Miller Lite #2 Ford Taurus NASCAR racer driven by Rusty Wallace back in the 1990s. Whoever created it certainly did a good job, because the model looks quite realistic, featuring a period livery along with plenty of other features.
Those include fake front and rear lights, silver-tinted “windows,” a rear spoiler, various sponsor logos, and even a set of black wheels wrapped with plastic tires featuring yellow Goodyear Eagle decals.
In terms of size, this is no shelf model, either, as the thing measures in at roughly 6 feet long, 26 inches wide, and 18 inches tall. Regardless, we imagine that any NASCAR fan – especially those that followed Wallace during his career – will be interested in bringing it home.
Interestingly enough, this isn’t the only large Ford model we’ve seen hit the auction block in recent weeks, either. Earlier this month, we came across a very cool Ford GT40 wooden display model as well, which measured in at a substantial 48 inches long and features tons of nifty details that made it look a lot like the real thing.
Turns out, there's a big difference between GT and GXL.
Turns out, size doesn't matter so much.
NASCAR says there's nothing stopping them from going to F1 or Indy.
A truly loaded example of the luxury sedan.
