The Ford Motor Company Bordeaux Transmission plant is a transmission manufacturing facility born out of a joint venture between Ford and Getrag. Established in 1972, the plant, which is now shut down, is located in Branquefort, France.
Very much like the Ford Motor Company Halewood Transmission plant in the UK, the Bordeaux transmission plant had 50/50 split ownership between Getrag and Ford. The facility oversaw the production of the the Ford BC-series of manual transmissions for over three decades, including the IB5 five-speed manual transmission found in vehicles like the Ford Fiesta, Ford Focus and European-market Ford Fusion.
In 2019, Ford announced that the facility would close its doors due to its massive European restructuring strategy, laying off more than 800 workers.
