Today, three days after the refreshed, 2018 Ford Mustang GT fastback broke cover at the 2017 North American International Auto Show, Ford has followed up with an unveil of the equally-new, 2018 Ford Mustang GT convertible. The facelifted drop-top will embark on a tour of "more than 50 regional auto shows" across the US before going on sale later this year, says Ford.
The 2018 Ford Mustang convertible benefits from the same mid-cycle overhaul as the fastback. That means new front-end styling, a 10-speed automatic transmission, available 12-inch digital instrument cluster, and engine improvements - including dual injection on the GT's 5.0-liter Coyote V8, and improved torque with "overboost" on the 2.3-liter EcoBoost I4. MagneRide dampers and a couple of high-tech active driver assists are available for the first time.
We must say: the 2018 Ford Mustang's new, lower hood and reshaped front fascia work well with the convertible body style. And like the GT model, there will be plenty of room for customization, thanks to three new paint colors and twelve different wheel options to choose from.
The 2018 Ford Mustang goes on sale this fall, in both fastback and convertible form.
