The Taurus’ October sales performance places it in sixth place in its segment in October. The segment was led by the Dodge Charger in first (see Dodge Charger sales), Chevrolet Impala in second (see Chevrolet Impala sales), Nissan Maxima in third, and the Charger’s platform mate – the Chrysler 300 – in fourth (see Chrysler 300 sales). Fifth place went to the Toyota Avalon.
The only segment competitors that the Taurus outsold during the month have either been discontinued or are in the process of being discontinued, including the Kia Cadenza , Hyundai Azera, Chevrolet SS and Volkswagen CC.
