The Nascar Ford teams showed strength in two of Nascar’s national series in 2022. Zane Smith and the No. 38 Ford F-150 race truck ran away with the Truck Series championship, and of course, Joey Logano’s No. 22 Ford Mustang racer showed the rest of the Cup Series field how it’s done when he captured the championship at Nascar’s highest level. However, the mid-tier Xfinity Series was a vastly different story for the Nascar Ford Mustang teams this year, and the race at Phoenix Raceway on November 5th, 2022 was a disappointing end to a disappointing season.
No Blue Oval racers led any laps at Phoenix for the final race of the 2022 season, and the best-finishing Mustang was that of Riley Herbst in the No. 98 Nascar Ford, who placed seventh. Meanwhile, a trio of Chevy Camaro race cars and a single Toyota Supra did battle in the Final 4 for the championship. Ty Gibbs in the No. 54 Supra held off the Chevys to win it all, taking his first Xfinity Series championship to a loud raucous of boos from the crowd.
In total, Nascar Ford Xfinity racers accounted for just one win all season. That win belonged to Cole Custer, a Cup Series regular, who drove the No. 07 Xfinity Mustang to Victory Lane at Auto Club Speedway in California on February 26th, 2022. Comparatively, Chevy accounted for a whopping 24 wins, while Toyotas took home eight.

There are only two Ford Xfinity teams that can halfway compete. #98 and #39 cannot compete with JRM and Gibbs. Ford needs to support more Xfinity teams if they want even a chance at a championship.
didn’t know that a ford won , musta missed it , but nascar wants it that way
Brutal headline. Ford won the Truck AND Cup Championships while GM won none!!
Well, yes, it’s brutal because it’s true. This article specifically refers to the Xfinity Series, not the other two.
There are only about 5 Ford’s against 20plus Chevy’s in the series – we need more Ford’s to compete..
