The redesigned Ford Ranger has been on sale in select international markets for some time now, and as was the case with its predecessor, is already racking up its fair share of glowing reviews and accolades. In fact, just last week, the new Ford Ranger was named “Best Pickup” in the 2024 Parkers Van and Pickup Awards, and now, the mid-size hauler continues to add to its proverbial trophy case after winning the 2024 International Pickup Award (IPUA), too.
The Ford Ranger is actually splitting this honor with the new Volkswagen Amarok – which shares a platform with the Ranger – giving Ford Pro and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles their third IPUA, respectively. For Ford, this win also means that it has won more IPUAs than any other manufacturer following double victories in 2013 and 2020.
“Following the IPUA 2023 Group Tests, held in Greece last month, it was impossible to separate the two models from each other, as both the new Ranger and Amarok were co-developed and are made at the Ford factory in South Africa. Although a collaboration project, each manufacturer has managed to maintain their unique styling and driving traits, which customers will testify,” said Jarlath Sweeney, Chairman, IPUA jury.
“We are delighted that the Ford Ranger has been recognized by the IPUA jury for the third time, which is testament to its enduring appeal as Europe’s favorite pickup for the past eight years,” said Hans Schep, General Manager, Ford Pro Europe. “The new Ford Ranger has the most comprehensive series choice yet, offering customers the on-road refinement and off-road capability to suit work days and weekends. It’s built ready for work and play.”
