Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2020-2024 Lincoln Aviator models due to an issue with the rearview camera.
The defect: in affected vehicles, the accessory protocol image module (APIM) can be affected by electromagnetic interference with a cell phone in the vehicle, causing the rearview camera image to flicker or become distorted.
The hazards: a flickering or distorted rearview camera image can reduce the driver’s rear visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.
Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this issue.
Components: accessory protocol image module (APIM).
Affected vehicles: select 2020-2024 Lincoln Aviator models produced between October 19th, 2018, and April 25th, 2024.
Number of vehicles affected: 109,283
The fix: dealers will install shielding on the accessory protocol image module (APIM), free of charge.
Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which will begin on July 8th, 2024. The Ford reference number for this recall is 24S35.
