Technology can be a good thing in some cases – as well as a problem in others – and that’s particularly true of modern day vehicles. While it’s nice to be able to do things like get in and out of a vehicle without having to take a key out of our pocket or even use a door handle in some cases, the flip side is, if that tech stops working, we can also find ourselves trapped in precarious situations. That’s precisely what reportedly happened to a Ford Mustang Mach-E owner recently, as their young child wound up getting stuck in the EV crossover.

In this recent post on Threads, the Ford Mustang Mach-E owner stated that their nine-month-old son was trapped in their crossover after his wife parked it at a charger with a 25 percent charge remaining. “After she got out of the car to grab our son, the car became completely unresponsive and neither her key fob nor either of our phones would unlock the vehicle,” he noted, and making matters worse, AAA couldn’t open the doors, which prompted the owner to smash the window of the Mach-E to retrieve his son. Ford roadside assistance couldn’t get the doors open either, and the vehicle was ultimately towed to a nearby dealer.
Update: My child was trapped in my Mach E

In a followup post on Reddit, the Ford Mustang Mach-E owner stated that the dealer informed him that the car’s 12-volt battery was to blame, though it also refused to cover any of the associated expenses. Ultimately, Ford reached out to the customer and offered to cover all of those costs – including the rental car he had while his Mach-E was at the dealer – but he’s still understandably concerned that this particular problem may one day occur again. As Ford Authority previously reported, 12-volt battery issues plagued some early 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E models, and it’s unclear if this issue is related to that, but others have stated that they’ve experienced similar issues as of late, too.

I had two 12v dead in my early year of my 2021 Mach-e. I learned about the front connector to open the hood snd how to get to the 12v battery with boosters.
STUPID!!!! ABSOLUTELY Unacceptable!!!!!!! There should be a warning of some sore to ALERT the Owner, or the STUPID FORD PASS APP should be attached to the SILLY “EV” in such a Fashion that the Owner receives some Kind of warning that the 12V BATTERY Is near End of Life and needs replacing. Or……. Here’s a NOVAL Idea, How about the FORD MOTOR COMPANY checking this Crap when the EV is In for Service???? (“IE”) RECALL’S!!! Or, Make it a known part that needs Replacement / Charging at some Interval??? This is Unacceptable and FORD NO’S IT!!!!! Just yet ANOTHER EV ISSUE that the Customer ultimately ends up on the SHORT END OF THE STICK!!!! “A G A I N” !!!!!! ???????
A woman, a Mach E and her 9 month old. One has an owner’s manual and the other two didn’t read it. Never close the driver’s door until you get the kid from the back seat is today’s lesson. You can’t just get in and drive with all the electronics these days.
Ford ne veut pas reconnaitre que le mach e est pleins de défectuosités et semble pas empressé a apporter des corrections.Et nous consommateurs on paient pour etre les cobayes.
