Ford Fusion Driver Barely Avoids Rear End Collision: Video

As many are already acutely aware, distracted driving is a real problem in today’s world, largely driven by folks that keep their eyes glued to their phones and other devices, rather than the road ahead. This has resulted in a steep increase in distracted driver-related crashes as of late, and those numbers continue to grow, unfortunately. We’re also seeing more and more of these types of crashes on video – thanks to the prevalence of cameras in vehicles these days – which are posted online for our viewing pleasure, or horror, at least, and that’s definitely the case with this near-miss involving a Ford Fusion.

In this video recently posted to Reddit, we’re taking a look at traffic approaching the rear of a vehicle that’s stopped, though it’s unclear why – we assume that they’re either stuck in traffic or sitting at a stoplight or stop sign, anyway. A couple of vehicles move into the other lane to avoid the stopped vehicle, but the Ford Fusion driver clearly doesn’t see it – or, at least, doesn’t react that quickly.

Once the Fusion driver sees that they’re about to plow into a stopped vehicle, they slam on the brakes and turn the steering wheel sharply to the right, narrowly avoiding a rear end collision. The driver of the car in front sees that this is about to happen and begins to roll forward as well, which is something many of us have done in the past to try and prevent the same sort of crash Luckily, it seems as if the cars didn’t make contact, and no other vehicle was damaged as a result, either.

This is far from the first time we’ve seen such an incident involving a Blue Oval model of any sort, as one might imagine. Earlier this year, we witnessed a Ford Contour driver that managed to avoid hitting a Ford Escape, but ultimately wound up crashing regardless, in fact.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.
