The Ford Mustang SVO debuted as a bit of an oddity in the pony car world, due simply to the fact that it came equipped with a potent turbocharged four-cylinder engine and styling that set it apart from the rest of the lineup at that time. In today’s EcoBoost-happy world, such a thing isn’t so uncommon, and in recent times, we’ve seen the values of nicely kept examples of the Ford Mustang SVO creep up. That figures to be the case with this 1985 model, too, given its stellar condition and low mileage total.
This 1985 Ford Mustang SVO is currently up for auction at Cars & Bids with just 12k miles on the clock, making it one of the lower-mile examples we’ve seen in a long time. It has remained in the possession of the same family since it was sold new many years ago, and they left it stock while caring for it greatly along the way. Its Medium Charcoal Metallic paint remains in good condition save for a couple of blemishes, and there’s a little bit of curb rash on the 16-inch alloy wheels, but otherwise, there aren’t any bones to pick on the outside.
The same goes for the interior, which has a little wear on the touchpoints, but otherwise looks to be in fantastic shape. There, one will find cloth upholstery along with amenities such as power windows and locks. Underneath, the pony car features a performance-tuned suspension with Koni shocks and struts, helping it get the power to the ground more effectively.
Speaking of power, that comes from the turbocharged Ford 2.3L inline-four cylinder engine, which was factory-rated to produce 200 horsepower and 240 pound-feet of torque. That power flows to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission, which makes this particular car even more desirable – and we expect it to conjure up plenty of interest at auction as a result.

I think that it’s so cool that a family has held onto this air loom for this long. Too bad they couldn’t find it within themselves to do so longer.
Very nice SVO Stang!!
Nice I have a 6000 mile 84 svo I bought new.
Dang, the SVO was my dream car since I saw them in the 1980’s. But the price was $17,000 in 1986 for one and that was too rich for this G.I’s paycheck back in the day. So I bought a regular Mustang and shipped her to Germany where I was for 5 years.
