These days, the more modern, compact, last-generation Ford Ranger has become a bit collectible – or, at least, we’re certainly seeing a boatload of them surface for sale at collector car auctions. Those pickups generally have low miles on the clock and weren’t used or abused to this point, making them a solid target for anyone that just wants a more basic hauler that also has some modern amenities and reliability baked in. In that regard, this 2000 Ford Ranger XLT SuperCab certainly looks like a good option.
This 2000 Ford Ranger is up for auction over at Bring a Trailer in the beloved Flareside configuration, and it’s nicely optioned, to boot. With a reasonable 52k miles, it’s finished in Black Clearcoat paint, with the optional XLT 4×4 Off-Road Group giving it a set of chrome bumpers and 4×4 Off-Road decals on the bed. The hood and roof have been repainted, but otherwise, the finish looks to be in good condition, as is the case with the original 16-inch five-spoke alloy wheels.
Inside the cabin of this Ford Ranger, one will find a set of Medium Graphite cloth upholstered front bucket and rear jump seats, along with a Viper alarm system, a CD/cassette stereo, air conditioning, cruise control, and power windows, locks, and mirrors. The driver’s window is slow to roll down, but otherwise, there really aren’t too many bones to pick here.
In terms of power, that comes from the naturally-aspirated Ford 4.0L V6, which was factory rated to produce 160 horsepower and 225 pound-feet of torque. It’s mated to a five-speed automatic transmission, sending power to the rear or all four wheels.
This 2000 Ford Ranger is undoubtedly a nice example of its breed, but it’s certainly part of a crowded group that we’ve seen hit the auction block in recent months. That list also includes a 2001 Ranger XLT Flareside that popped up for sale with a mere 41k miles on the clock, too.
