One of the scariest aspects of driving is the notion that one can be doing literally nothing wrong and still get wrapped up in someone else’s incident. That’s what happened to an unfortunate Ford Edge in a recent viral dashcam video in which three vehicles suffered damage – and not one of them were the initial cause of the accident.
The original poster turned the footage loose on the Reddit community r/IdiotsInCars, appropriately. Right away, a blue sedan can be seen trying to execute a lane change. There’s one problem with the maneuver: the lane is already occupied by another vehicle. The silver crossover swerves and makes contact with another crossover to their left. Both vehicles lilt up on two wheels before crashing back down onto all fours, and both begin to spin out.
The Ford Edge is traveling in the rightmost lane, minding its own business, when the silver crossover slams into its side. The driver’s side airbag deployed, indicating the severity of the impact. Both the crossovers continue spinning out in front of the trashed Edge, sliding out of frame before the viewer is given the chance to see where they ended up.
The original poster said that the driver of the blue sedan that kicked off the whole incident took off without stopping. In fact, the only evidence of their involvement is the video seen here. They provide the footage to police so they can attempt to track down the driver of that blue sedan and hopefully bring them to justice for wrecking three cars in one fell swoop. However, as some commenters point out, the silver crossover that swerved out of the blue sedan’s way may also be held at fault, although there’s really nowhere they could have gone otherwise.

A Ford Fusion suffered a similar fate to the Ford Edge in this video, taken out by a Honda Accord in a puzzling series of events.
