The Ford Model T quite literally etched itself into automotive history after becoming the very first affordable vehicle available to the masses well over a century ago, but it also continued to evolve in the years afterward. Today, we still celebrate the Ford Model T for its tremendous impact on mankind as a whole, even though the state of the automotive market has changed significantly since then. Sadly, however, one surviving example of this incredibly iconic machine recently perished in a garage fire.
According to News 8 Now, the tragic fire occurred in Naples, Wisconsin, and began in a nearby car trailer early this past Saturday morning. The fire spread to a garage and subsequently caused major damage, all while completely engulfing the poor Ford Model T that was parked inside. The Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office provided a single photo of the aftermath, and as we can see from that, the vintage machine is barely recognizable sitting among the ashes of the structure that used to house it.
Both the car trailer and garage suffered extensive damage as a result of the blaze too, but luckily, no one was injured as a result. The residents of the home stated that their smoke detectors didn’t even go off, and they were instead alerted to the fire by a person driving by, who noticed and stopped to help. Unfortunately, the fire wasn’t extinguished in time to save the old Ford Model T, however.
Just last year, the Museum of American Speed embarked on a coast-to-coast trip from New York to San Francisco in a 1924 Ford Model T to mark 100 years since that model hit the 10 million units produced mark. Over that time span, the Model T has been used for just about anything one can imagine – even as a Red Cross Ambulance in World War I, not to mention as the basis for many groundbreaking custom builds.

This is tragic, but too often preventable with detectors located in areas with critical or irreplaceable items. Residential sprinkler systems would also go a long way to mitigating this loss. I have alarm systems in my remote shed for just this reason.
R.I.P. my Model T friend
