The S197 generation Ford Mustang has been gaining steam as a potential collectible in recent months, with more and more nice, low-mile examples of that pony car surfacing for auction than previously seen. Whether or not folks will soon be shelling out big bucks for S197 Ford Mustang models remains to be seen, but for now at least, there’s plenty of inventory to choose from. The latest comes to us in the form of this very nice 2005 Ford Mustang GT Roush Stage 1 model, which has less than 18k miles on the clock.
This 2005 Ford Mustang GT Roush Stage 1 is currently up for auction over at Hagerty looking like new, and it’s fitted with an array of upgrades by the noted tuner as well. On the outside, those consist of a Roush body kit, billet grille, and staggered wheels that measure 18 inches up front and 19 in the rear. It’s covered in black paint, with no flaws noted outside of a scuff mark present on the underside of the front bumper.
Inside, one will find a black and gray interior that’s also in good condition, save for the typical creasing on the driver’s side bolster, and it’s equipped with a Kenwood stereo, to boot. Power comes from the 4.6L V8, which in this case has been upgraded with a Roush intake, intercooler, air induction system, and custom fuel system, plus the proverbial cherry on top – a 2.6L Kenne Bell supercharger, with a Tremec six-speed manual transmission backing things up.
This Roush Ford Mustang has also been treated to a high-performance brake kit with Brembo units, a 31-spline 8.8 Moser rear axle, Tokico ADI shocks and struts, an aluminum driveshaft, exhaust cutouts, and a BMR subframe and A-arms.
While most of the S197 Ford Mustang models we’ve spotted at auction recently have been lower-mile stock examples, this Roush somewhat breaks that mold. However, we also came across a 2007 version of the pony car this past March that was heavily customized and previously shown off at SEMA, too.
Looked pretty damn authentic upon first glance.
