Nearly one year ago, we spotted a very special 1993 Ford Taurus SHO up for auction, but it wasn’t any old normal version of that high-performance sedan. Rather, it was previously used as an instructor car at the Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving in Phoenix, Arizona, making it a pretty cool piece of Blue Oval history, as the late Bondurant himself is a motorsports legend with strong ties to Ford. For those that missed the opportunity to own that machine, another Ford Taurus SHO instructor car is now up for grabs, too.
This 1993 Ford Taurus SHO is currently being auctioned off at Bring a Trailer after it was also previously modified by Roush Racing to serve as an instructor car at the Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving. The seller acquired the SHO back in 2009 and has held onto it ever since, but all of the original features are still present and accounted for. However, it was refinished in its original shade of Oxford White after previously being painted yellow for use at the racing school, though also accented by Bondurant School graphics.
Behind the car’s Team Dynamics Motorsport Pro Race 1.2 wheels and Sumitomo HTR A/S P02 tires lie a bevy of suspension mods including front caster and camber plates, rear camber plates with a rear strut tower brace, welded rear suspension bracing, Mustang Cobra-sourced front disc brakes, braided stainless-steel front brake lines, Intrax lowering springs, and powder-coated white Koni struts.
Inside, the airbag has been deleted, while a padded six-point roll cage, RCI harnesses, an hour meter, and a fire suppression system were also added. Power comes from the Yamaha-sourced 3.0L V6 that was factory-rated to produce 220 horsepower and 200 pound-feet of torque, mated to a five-speed manual gearbox in this case.
Now, this cool and unique machine is looking for a new home, giving someone the chance to bring home a vehicle that we don’t see pop up for sale very often.
