The Blue Oval’s post-purchase experiences have only expanded in recent years, giving owners and fans new ways to experience the company’s vehicles in special curated environments. That includes the fan-favorite Ford Mustang, which has long been the subject of various track attack experiences, and last year, even embarked on an “Unleashed” tour across the U.S., coinciding with the opening of Ford Mustang Experience Center at Charlotte Motor Speedway in North Carolina. Now, there’s a new pony car experience on the way.
This new Ford Mustang experience is called “American Icon,” and is set to open up in Los Angeles, California this fall. Details are a bit scant at the moment, but the experience’s official website notes that it will include multi-sensory immersive environments, a group of “legendary” Mustang models from film and culture, as well as a 4D thrill ride. The immersive journey looks like it will transport attendees through Ford Mustang history, all with a dose of pony car culture included.
The experience promises to include an array of movie-famous Mustangs as well, and as for the 4D thrill ride, well, it’s designed to take attendees on a trip on both the road and the track, behind the wheel of the iconic model. Those interested in joining the waitlist to purchase tickets to the new American Icon experience can do so by heading over here, with prices starting at $26. It’s set to take place at Ace Mission Studios, which is located in Boyle Heights.

This particular social media blitz doesn’t really come as a surprise, given the fact that the Ford Mustang has long ranked as one of the most popular vehicles posted on Instagram. In fact, even six years ago, there were a whopping 11+ million posts pertaining to the pony car on that particular social media platform.

This looks like a great way for those people that don’t want to take in the Mach 1 Track Attack program or the EDGE ST Experience. Maybe they like the vehicles, but they are just not the type to want to push the Mach 1 or the Edge ST to the limits.
I bought a 2021 Mustang Mach 1 and went to the Mach 1 Track Attack at Charlotte and loved it.
My wife bought a 2024 Edge ST and that time we went to Park City, UT for the ST Experience.
Both of us had competed in SCCA Solo II for over 25 years, as well as crewed on an A Sedan Class Mustang in SCCA Road Racing. So, we both enjoyed the events by Ford. They were both well worth the long trip from Minnesota to learn more about the vehicles and push them harder than you dare on the street. And, you don’t use your vehicle. Ford has one there for you with all the safety equipment.
