Ford afficionado Vaughn Gittin Jr. recently bolstered his ever-growing collection with an extremely rare example of the Fox Body Ford Mustang – and his troupe is about to grow by one more pony car. Gittin officially ordered his Ford Mustang GTD, tricking it out with all the performance goodies he could ever want.

As a reminder, Ford Mustang GTD buyers had to jump through all sorts of hoops to acquire the track-ready pony, starting with an application to be approved by the automaker in the first place. Once approved, they had to place a hefty deposit to secure their spot on the order books, meaning Gittin is one of the few to earn the privilege. Now, all that’s left is to hop on the configurator and spec it out to his preference.

After unboxing the exclusive booklet and other exclusive goodies, Gittin gets right to ordering the Ford Mustang GTD. He then gets the concierge on the phone to begin the ordering process for his track-ready pony. He selects “Leadfoot Gray,” which aligns with the RTR colors – Gittin’s company. He then orders the non-carbon fiber parts, citing concerns for scratches resulting from his driving habits, leading him to the Base series.

Gittin also wants his Ford Mustang GTD kitted out with the Performance Pack, which just looks “bad” – as in badass – as the Ford representative puts it. He opts to forego the Mustang script on the spoiler so he can “make something funny” himself, and he also fits it with a recovery hook. He’ll get an order confirmation form and work with his preferred dealer to put down a 50 percent deposit – and that’s no small change, considering the pony car can coast upwards of $300,000.

“I’ll be sure to send you a selfie of my very happy smiling self sitting in the driver’s seat of this hot rod,” Gittin tells the Ford rep as they wrap up the call. Now the only thing left to do is wait for it to be delivered.

Deliveries of the 2025 Ford Mustang GTD began in late June, as exclusively reported by Ford Authority, and Ford CEO Jim Farley personally handed one example off to Jay Leno not too long ago.
