Back in late 2022, Johnny Bohmer set out to surpass the 300 mph mark in his heavily-modified 2006 Ford GT, appropriately nicknamed “BADD GT.” He managed to do precisely that, hitting a top speed of 310.8 mph at Space Florida’s Launch and Landing Facility located at the Kennedy Space Center, once again making this 2006 Ford GT the fastest street-legal vehicle in the world after it had already broken its own records on multiple occasions prior to that. Now, Bohmer is aiming to beat his own record once again.

Bohmer and RAV Performance have now announced that they have a new goal in mind – reaching the 330 mph mark on 1.5 miles of paved surface, which would widen the Ford GT’s lead as the fastest street-legal vehicle on earth by a large margin. Making that feat even more impressive is the fact that this project is of the grass roots variety and is largely self-funded, and it’s not only street legal, but also, equipped with things like a stereo and air conditioning, plus Bohmer drives it around town on a regular basis, to boot.

“This isn’t just about bragging rights now,” says Bohmer. “It’s about rewriting what’s possible for a USA street-legal car. We’re proving that innovation, dedication, and precise testing can outpace the biggest names in the industry. The 310.8 MPH / 500.1 KPH run was just a test run and only the beginning. 330 MPH / 531 KPH is in reach, and we are making final preparations. This is about proving real world results, beyond computer models and advertised theoretical top speeds. We are showing what a small, dedicated team and a 2006 Ford GT is capable of. Just like the 24 hours of Le Mans in 1966, Ford overtook the automotive industry racing titans, and we are going to do it again.”

To get to his new goal, Bohmer – along with his team – have spent countless hours performing aerodynamic testing, data collection, and drivetrain optimization, documenting each high speed run and reviewing that data with engineers and third parties to ensure both authenticity and transparency. The next top speed record attempt is set to take place in 2026, under controlled conditions and with third-party verification for credibility’s sake.
