Mecum’s Larry’s Legacy auction is set to take place in just over a week, and it will offer shoppers a pretty interesting array of famous movie and TV cars, along with an array of cool custom machinery. We’ve already covered several of the Blue Oval models that will be going up for grabs at that auction, including, perhaps most interestingly, the 2002 Lincoln Continental concept that was displayed at the Los Angeles Auto Show that same year. Now, we’re getting a look at a pretty unique 1957 Ford Fairlane set to be auctioned off at the same event.
This 1957 Ford Fairlane Custom will also cross the block at Mecum’s Larry’s Legacy auction, but it’s most certainly not stock by any means. Rather, this one of a kind build known as “Two Face” was created back in 1960 by the Bismarck, North Dakota State Automotive Department, using not just one, but two 1957 Ford wagons. Those two vehicles were each cut in half, after which the front ends were grafted together for a totally unique look sure to turn heads everywhere it goes.
The result of that work is one end that has functional taillights, while the “back portion” incorporates a pair of taillights into the original headlight housings. The odd creation rolls on a set of wide whitewall tires wrapped in wheels with full-size covers, and the interior is quite unique, as one would imagine. There, one will find matching dashboards at each end, as well as a steering wheel and pedals.
In terms of power, that comes from an inline six-cylinder engine mated to a three-speed manual transmission, not that we imagine anyone will be trying to set any speed records in this confusing Ford Fairlane, anyway.
Regardless, it won’t be the only Fairlane up for grabs at Larry’s Legacy, either – rather, it’ll be joined by a custom 1960 with a double bubble top, too.
