2026 Ford Expedition Gains Black Painted Roof Option

Black-painted roofs seem to be all the rage right now, and The Blue Oval has taken notice. It’s already available on a number of Ford models, including the Ford Explorer, Ford Maverick, and Ford Mustang, along with the Lincoln Corsair and Lincoln Navigator. Now, a black-painted roof is offered on the 2026 Ford Expedition, bringing a sporty duotone paint scheme to the full-size SUV.

According to sources familiar with the matter, the new black-painted roof is offered on the 2026 Ford Expedition Platinum and King Ranch trims. It’s optional on both of these models, but interested buyers should note that it cannot be paired with the optional Console Vault. It’s also available with almost every exterior color – aside from Agate Black Metallic, of course.

That means the black-painted roof is available in conjunction with the following exterior colors on the 2026 Expedition:

  • Dark Matter Gray Metallic
  • Glacier Gray Metallic Tri-Coat
  • Marsh Gray
  • Oxford White
  • Space Silver Metallic
  • Star White Metallic Tri-Coat
  • Stone Blue Metallic

At the time of this writing, Ford has not released pricing for the 2026 Expedition black-painted roof option. There are no images of the feature, either.

Inside, the 2026 Ford Expedition gets another update, although this one is a deletion: the wireless smartphone charging pad is gone, making the full-size SUV the latest vehicle in The Blue Oval’s lineup to drop it. Other changes include the Power Panoramic Vista roof, which becomes optional on the Active Touring trim. It’s losing its Wild Green paint option, too, replaced by Marsh Gray, which is being introduced to more and more models in Ford’s lineup.

Meanwhile, the 2026 Ford Expedition XL and Active Select trims feature a manual adjusted power tilt and telescoping steering column, while third-row 60/40 PowerFold seats are now standard on Active Touring models. The Ford Security Package also joins the lineup with a complimentary one-year trial period included with activation, while Ford Co-Pilot Active 2.0 is now included on the Active Touring trim, but it requires BlueCruise. The Off-Road Underbody Shield is now an optional Ford Accessory, but remains standard on Tremor models.

At the time of this writing, pricing for the 2026 Ford Expedition has not been released. For comparison, the 2025 model starts at $62,630, not including destination freight charges.
