Conan O’Brien Wants His 1992 Ford Taurus SHO Back In Action

As some are already aware, comedian and former late night talk show host Conan O’Brien purchased a Ford Taurus SHO after tooling around in “beaters” for a long time, which he was able to do after finding his footing in Hollywood. O’Brien has since referred to that Ford Taurus SHO as his “prized possession,” though humorously, he also didn’t know how to drive a car with a manual transmission at the time. Regardless, O’Brien has kept it ever since, and now, he has big plans for it, too.

“I want to get it. I want to chronicle this, but I want to get it rehabbed and bring it back,” O’Brien told fellow comedian Nate Bargatze of his Ford Taurus SHO in a recent episode of the Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend podcast. “And I’m so excited. It is covered in grime. It is covered in dust, but its got its inspection sticker from 1992. It is in the parking garage, at this moment, at Warner Brothers, I don’t know why they haven’t towed it away.”

It was last year when O’Brien hosted his former girlfriend and actress Lisa Kudrow, who admitted that she wasn’t quite as big a fan of the car as he was. She noted that O’Brien only bought it because “that’s what men do,” adding “you didn’t get some wimpy transmission.” Conan responded simply by saying “I wanted full control over every inch of my Ford Taurus.”

He was also excited to show it to Kudrow, so he drove over to her house expecting her to be equally thrilled with the purchase. However, that wasn’t exactly the case. O’Brien kept telling her that it was a fast car, repeatedly calling it a “wolf in sheep’s clothing,” adding that “it’s a Ford Taurus on the outside, but it’s got an incredible engine and a stick shift.”

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.
