Back in July, The Blue Oval unveiled an all-new Ford Bronco model destined for China, which looks something like a cross between the regular Bronco and Bronco Sport, but it’s quite different in virtually every other area. Perhaps the most notable differences between the new Chinese Ford Bronco and the regular one are its powertrain options – which consist of an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) setup, as well as a pure EV option. Now, the new Ford Bronco Basecamp has debuted with a few other unique features.
The Ford Bronco Basecamp was just unveiled at the 2025 Chengdu International Auto Show as what the automaker calls a “comfortable urban oasis,” and even comes equipped with a “Nap Mode,” which folds the front headrests and reclines the second-row seats – and as an option, customers can even add a curtain and refrigerator to complete the experience. Thanks to the 6 kW external power supply, it’s easy to power a campsite, and the modular tailgate has an integrated induction cooktop, table, magnetic attachments, and a spice rack built in.
The Ford Bronco Basecamp also features a factory-installed pop-up roof that adds 36 centimeters (1.18 inches) of headroom at the touch of a button, while the first and second row seats fold flat into a bed. The B-pillar air vents and C-pillar charge points double as a bedside table, with adjustable reading lights and climate-controlled camping space. The SUV even comes with a feature dubbed Travel Guide, which provides 3D satellite map navigation that recommends points of interest, photo ops, and drone filming locations with real-time voice prompts.
In terms of powertrains, the Ford Bronco Basecamp can be had with both the EREV and pure EV arrangements. The former offers up an all-electric range of over 200 kilometers (124 miles) or 1,200 kilometers (746 miles) in total, while the EV delivers a max range of 650 kilometers (404 miles).
In terms of pricing and availability, Ford hasn’t yet announced either for the new Bronco Basecamp, but that information should be provided as we get a bit closer to its launch.
