The Ford Bronco Sport debuted for the 2021 model year as a proverbial “little brother” to the regular Bronco, a rugged crossover for the masses. The Bronco Sport just received its very first mid-cycle refresh for the 2025 model year as well, but for some time now, many have wondered when we can expect the model to get its very first major redesign. Prior reports have indicated that this would happen in 2027, and then, 2028, but now, it seems as if we may be waiting a bit longer than that.
According to Automotive News, the Ford Bronco Sport is now not expected to receive its redesign “before the end of the decade,” though it also notes that the crossover could get another refresh in 2028. That action could include the arrival of a long-awaited hybrid powertrain as well, which is something that Ford plans to add to every model in the ICE-focused Blue lineup by 2030. This timeline aligns with the Ford Maverick – which shares a platform with the Bronco Sport and is build alongside it in Mexico, too.
With the Ford Escape set to be discontinued at the conclusion of the 2026 model year, the Bronco Sport will take on a more important role in the automaker’s lineup, so such an addition could prove key.
In the meantime, the 2025 Ford Bronco Sport was treated to a variety of updates that include slightly revised exterior styling, Ford’s 360-Degree Camera with Trail View, along with the Sasquatch Package. That option adds a bevy of off-road-focused upgrades such as 29-inch 235/65/R17 Goodyear Territory All-Terrain tires, a new Rally GOAT mode, a standard front brush guard, skid plates, four recovery points, integrated tie-downs, Bilstein rear shocks with position-sensitive damping and piggyback reservoirs, plus new front and rear springs that increase ride height by four-tenths of an inch over the Badlands model.
It'll field a total of 12 teams this year.
The popular program most recently ended at the conclusion of September.
Those that do will get a pretty nice perk, too.

So, Farley expects THIS to carry the burden of the departing Escape? Brain transplant needed, stat.
It needs to 2.0 to be available in all trims, not just the $40k + Badlands model.
Bring back the FLEX. Bring back the Taurus/Freestyle Wagon. OR Come out with a newer version of the Escape / Corsair, just larger, the Mercury Colony Park station wagon was big, blocky and heavy but could carry a family to Walley World.
