Ford Mustang Flattened After Driver Loses Control: Video

High horsepower demands respect, and that’s a lesson that one Ford Mustang driver learned the hard way on Wyoming’s Beartooth Highway. After losing control around a turn, the pony car went sideways and flipped, resulting in a terrifying, movie-worthy crash – and while the Mustang didn’t make it, the driver walked away.

According to a report from Cowboy State Daily, the video of the crash was recorded by a tourist on August 31st, 2025. The driver of the Ford Mustang was driving a bit fast for the switchbacks, outrunning their own driving ability too. The driver geared down heading into a sharp left-hand curve, and everything seemed to be progressing as normal until the Mustang attempted to exit the hairpin, and that’s where things went south for the pony car.

The Ford Mustang snapped sideways. It’s difficult to see exactly what caused the driver to lose control, but it appears that the Mustang’s driver wheeled it into oncoming traffic, panicked at the sight of another vehicle heading toward them, and jerked out of the way, causing the muscle car to wash to the outside of the curve and into the dirt. Regardless of circumstance, the Mustang pointed the wrong direction and almost immediately went up and over, flipping once before coming to rest on its roof.

“It was absolutely totaled,” said Zac Beardall, owner of Zac’s Towing and Recovery, the company tasked with extracting the damaged Mustang. “The roof is completely caved in, and the whole front K-member – which is the engine and front suspension support – got shoved back about a foot and blew one of the wheels apart. The back wheels are almost completely bald. It’s decimated.”

Beardall was able to speak with the driver, who walked away from the totaled Ford Mustang before being transported to a hospital in Billings, Montana. He was released that evening with no major injuries, and received a ticket for reckless driving.

“He has an injured shoulder and, I’d imagine, a pretty good concussion from the incident,” Beardall said.

Another Mustang driver had some trouble with a left turn last year, losing control and wrecking, and a different Mustang piled into a stolen Ford F-250 in dramatic fashion, too.
