Last December, Ian Cohen joined Ford Motor Company in the newly-created role of head of creative and content for global communications, and just a few weeks later, it opted to make that position permanent. Cohen’s role consists of internal and external storytelling and content creation for The Blue Oval, reporting to Ford chief communications officer Mark Truby. Cohen also oversee an entire integrated team that’s responsible not only for creative services and content, but also, the company’s newsroom. Now, he’s being joined by a new hire that came from a very different type of company.
That person is David Tovar, who has been tabbed as the new executive director of corporate communications for Ford, according to PRWeek. Tovar will report to Truby as well, and he replaces TR Reid, who retired last year – albeit, in a newly expanded role. He comes from Grubhub, where Tovar was SVP of communications and government relations, and prior to that, he spent time as a communications VP for Walmart, SVP of corporate communications at Sprint, and as chief U.S. corporate relations officer for McDonald’s.
In his new role, Tovar will oversee communications for Ford’s finance, government affairs, community relations, and Ford Credit entity, responsible for enhancing corporate relations, plus shaping the company’s narrative for policymakers, the financial media, and investors, according to Truby.
Tovar has several subordinates including Cathie Hargett, director of corporate and CEO communications; Gabby Bruno, community relations director; Karen Hampton, Ford Credit communications director; Anderson Chan, international communications manager and China industry analyst; Dan Barbossa, new media and experiences manager; corporate communications managers Ian Thibodeau and Richard Binhammer; and Robyn Jackson, government affairs communications manager.
“[Tovar] is a major talent with a wealth of experience from some of the most high-profile companies in the world,” Truby said of his latest hire. “I’m thrilled he is joining Ford at such an important time for our company and the auto industry.”
The agency wants automakers to incorporate impaired driving prevention tech.
The Blue Oval is already using that tech in various ways.
A great way to protect the SUV's vital components when off-roading.
Things remain quite inflated, though inventory is turning.
Two things that the union lost during the last recession.
In three different trims levels for that market.
