Multimatic Recommits To IMSA With Twin Ford Mustang GT3 Entries

The Dark Horse-based Ford Mustang GT3 debuted just over two years ago, carrying The Blue Oval in international sports car racing ever since. Multimatic Motorsports has been at the forefront of the Mustang GT3 program, representing the automaker in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship with a pair of pony racers ready to roll – and the team recently confirmed that it’s coming back for more in 2026.

As per a report from Sportscar365, Multimatic Motorsports will once again field two Ford Mustang GT3 race cars in 2026, marking the team’s third consecutive season. That includes the No. 65 Mustang GT3 and its sister No. 64 Mustang GT3.

The No. 65 Ford Mustang GT3 is tag-teamed by Christopher Mies, Frederic Vervisch and Dennis Olsen, who put that race car in Victory Lane at the season-opening 24 Hours of Daytona in 2025. Mike Rockenfeller and Seb Priaulx followed that victory up with a win in the No. 64 Mustang on The Blue Oval’s home turf – the streets of Detroit – in May, proving that the pony has some serious speed behind it.

While Multimatic did not announce its driver lineup for the 2026 season quite yet, it’s likely that the aforementioned racers will reprise their roles behind the wheel of the team’s twin Ford Mustang GT3 entries.

When the Mustang GT3 hits the track for the 2026 season, it will carry the new EVO Package. Ford has not revealed what that package will entail, but it’s geared toward making the Mustang GT3 even more competitive on the racetrack.

“We are continuing to build upon the success of the Mustang GT3 platform with an EVO package for 2026, pushing development and continued improvement for our teams and partners,” said Alex Allmandinger, Ford Racing global sports car manager, when the package was teased. “As we celebrate 125 years since Ford’s first race win, we remain committed to competing at the highest level.”
