Ryan Blaney, driver of the No. 12 NASCAR Ford Mustang Dark Horse, already has a championship under his belt, but that’s not stopping him from going for a second in 2025. He’s already off to a hot start, winning the opening race of the second round of the 2025 Playoffs, meaning he’s punched his ticket to the next round, putting him one step closer to the Championship 4.

Blaney’s NASCAR Ford was blisteringly fast from the start at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on September 21st, 2025. He rolled to the green flag on the outside of the front row and led 116 of the race’s 301 laps. He held off another quick Mustang – the No. 21 NASCAR Ford of Josh Berry – to lead the final 39 laps, too, solidifying his victory.

“Probably the hardest 20 laps I drove,” Blaney said, reflecting on the challenge of holding Berry off. “Was trying to bide my stuff and [Berry] really started coming. He started to get super free and it was all I could do to hold him off. It was good racing. Clean racing and I appreciate Josh not throwing me the bumper when he could have.”

In winning at New Hampshire, Blaney ensures that he’ll survive to the Round of 8, which means he can breathe easy for the next two weekends before having to defend his Playoff berth once again. The same can’t be said for fellow NASCAR Ford driver Joey Logano, whose No. 22 Mustang set the fastest time during qualifying. Despite a fourth-place result, Logano isn’t guaranteed a pass into the Round of 8, unless he wins in the next two races.

“We ran well, we just weren’t the fastest car,” Logano said. “The 12 [Blaney] was fastest in practice and he showed that again in the race. Our only chance to beat him was on pit road and beat him on details. But they were able to make up their track position when they put four [tires] on. That last restart I could have started behind him and finished third in the race, but if I was behind the 12 [Blaney] I wasn’t going to win.”

William Byron’s Chevy finished third, followed by Logano, while Chase Elliott and his Chevy rounded out the top five.
