While it’s safe to say that many of us keep our vehicles clean at all times, that certainly isn’t the case with everyone. Rather, we’ve seen our fair share of dirty and oftentimes downright disgusting vehicles, both outside and inside, many of which we personally wouldn’t step foot in. Professional detailers tend to see this sort of thing quite a lot, and that includes the folks behind the YouTube channel The Detail Geek. Recently, they were tasked with cleaning a pretty nasty 2020 Ford Explorer, too.
In this video, we get a good look at this Ford Explorer and the state of neglect that it’s in, which is the result of the owner never cleaning it a single time over the course of 84k miles or so. The exterior looks like it’ll be easy enough to clean, but that certainly isn’t the case with the interior – there, one will find everything from hair balls to trash to pieces of food, and it’s easily one of the more disgusting things we’ve seen in a while.
Thus, the team gets to work scrubbing the outside and undercarriage of this Ford Explorer before turning their attention to the big task at hand. That starts by simply removing all of the garbage and other things strewn about the cabin, cleaning the floor mats, and even removing the seats, because things really are that bad. Once that long process is finished, our host gives the carpet a good scrub, and the brown water that comes from that job is enough to make anyone gag just a little – which is also true of the sticky goo on the seats.
Ultimately, it took a whopping 15 hours to bring this Ford Explorer back to life, which is a ton of labor that could have been avoided with just some regular cleanings. Regardless, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen a nasty Blue Oval vehicle rejuvenated in this manner – the same treatment was also recently applied to a nasty Ford Flex, as well as a 2010 Ford F-150.
