1989 Ford Ranger XLT With 8K Miles Up For Auction

Earlier examples of the Ford Ranger pickup continue to conjure up more and more collector interest these days, and for good reason - the first-generation version of the once-compact pickup is a simple and reliable machine that had plenty of fans during its heyday. With modern vehicles getting more and more complicated and tech-laden, there are many that prefer something that's easier to work on, and in that realm, this super low-mile 1989 Ford Ranger XLT looks like a good bet.

This 1989 Ford Ranger XLT is up for auction at Bring a Trailer with just 8k miles on the clock, in fact, which makes it easily one of the least-used first-generation pickups we've seen in a long time. It remained in the possession of the original owner until this past September - who clearly didn't drive it much - and also took great care of it, judging by the way this thing looks.

On the outside, this pristine Ford Ranger is finished in very nice Twilight Blue Clearcoat Metallic paint, shiny chrome, and the original 15-inch wheels - which are wrapped in some old tires that need replacing. Inside, one will find a super clean bench seat upholstered in Crystal Blue cloth, along with amenities such as cruise control, manual crank windows, and a factory AM/FM/cassette stereo, plus air conditioning, though it isn't currently working properly.

Mechanically speaking, this Ford Ranger is equipped with the naturally-aspirated 2.9L V6, originally rated to produce 140 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque. It flows to the rear or all four wheels via a five-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case, and is accompanied by things like power steering and power-assisted front disc brakes.

In recent months, we've begun to see more and more first-generation Ford Ranger pickups surface for sale, which comes after later models soared in popularity. Most recently, that list included a 1987 XLT with 74k miles on the clock.
