1989 Mercury Cougar XR-7 Up For Auction Again After Buyers Flake Out

It isn’t terribly surprising to see a vehicle surface for sale at auction on more than one occasion, and for various reasons. Sometimes, those that purchase a vehicle at auction for cheap are looking to flip it quickly and make a few bucks, while other times, buyers flake out and wind up not paying what they agreed to – or maybe have a change of heart after the auction ends. However, it isn’t too terribly often that we see a vehicle hit the auction block not once, not twice, but three times in the course of a couple of months, though that’s the case with this 1989 Mercury Cougar XR-7.

This 1989 Mercury Cougar XR-7 is back up for grabs on Bring a Trailer for the third time after the winner bidder opted not to pay for it, which resulted in restricted access to the auction site, as well as them losing out on the buyer’s fee. Prior to that appearance just last month, the same Cougar was offered up at auction back in August as well, though at that time, the winning bidder also failed to pony up and fulfill their commitment to buy it, too.

Now, this poor Mercury Cougar XR-7 is once again looking for a new home for the third time in just a couple of months, and we can only imagine the kind of frustration its owner has gone through thus far. Hopefully they’ll find the right buyer this time around, which this car deserves – it has just 50k miles on the clock and remains in great condition, with flaw-free Oxford White paint covering its flanks, which include a body kit.

Inside the cabin, one will find a very sanitary Current Red cloth interior with power-adjustable front sport seats, an AM/FM/cassette stereo, cruise control, automatic front seatbelts, a premium sound system, and power windows, locks, and mirrors.

Power comes from the supercharged 3.8L V6 that was factory-rated to produce 210 horsepower and 315 pound-feet of torque, and it’s mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. The Cougar also features electronic ride control, an independent rear suspension, and four-wheel disc brakes.
