1994 Ford Escort LX With 2K Miles Up For Auction

The Ford Escort is largely remembered as being an affordable and thrifty mode of transportation for the masses, though there were also plenty of interesting performance variants and full-blown racers that existed over the years, too. These days, the Ford Escort is becoming a bit more collectible as well, moving beyond those special models and more toward well-kept, low-mile examples of regular, run of the mill commuters. The latest is this - a supremely low-mile 1994 Ford Escort that's now looking for a new home.

This 1994 Ford Escort LX is up for auction at Bring a Trailer with just 2,300 miles on the clock, in fact, which is a stunningly low figure for a vehicle of this type and vintage. It remained in the possession of the original owner until the selling dealer acquired it recently, though they clearly didn't drive it much over the past couple of decades. As a result, it looks pretty close to new on the outside, with perfect Bright Calypso Green Metallic paint and steel wheels wearing the original hub caps.

That's also true of the interior, which still has its plastic covers for the seats intact. Those seats are upholstered in Opal Gray cloth, and there are a few amenities to be found, such as automatic front shoulder belts, power-adjustable side mirrors, an AM/FM radio, and air conditioning.

Under the hood lies the naturally-aspirated 1.9L inline-four cylinder engine, factory rated to produce 88 horsepower and 108 pound-feet of torque. The fuel pump, water pump, and timing belt were replaced last November, at which time an oil change was performed as well. The I-4 is mated to a four-speed automatic transmission, sending power to the front wheels.

It's anyone's guess what this pristine and barely-used Ford Escort sedan will sell for, but we're starting to see more and more of these cars pop up at auction these days. Recently, we also spotted a 1993 Escort LX wagon with just 400 miles, as well as a 1992 GT with a five-speed manual gearbox.

  • I keep seeing these old Fords going to auction and when I see them on TV they don’t bring any money. Old Fords from the 80s 90s were really cheap looking and ugly vehicles. No one wants them….

    • Thanks Rob. Tell us about the top dollar 1994 Corollas at the auction. They bring, what, $500k each?
