Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2024-2025 Ford Mustang supercharger kits over an issue with unintended acceleration.
The defect: in affected vehicles, the powertrain control module (PCM) may experience a software error and disable functional safety features. Deactivated safety features can fail to prevent unintended acceleration or unintended vehicle movement.
The hazards: unintended acceleration increases the risk of a crash.
Components: Ford Mustang superchargers with part number M-6066-M8800, which were sold as aftermarket accessory kits for 2024-2025 models.
Affected vehicles: select 2024-2025 Ford Mustang models equipped with the aforementioned supercharger kits that were produced between May 31st, 2023, and July 22nd, 2025.
Number of affected vehicles: 1,048
The fix: dealers will update the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) software, free of charge.
Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which will begin in October. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available, which is anticipated to happen in October as well. The Ford number for this recall is 25SA7.
