In recent years, Ford has issued more recalls than any other automotive manufacturer, as many are well aware already. A large portion of those recalls are related to rearview camera issues, with the most recent pertaining to a whopping 1.4 million vehicles, as Ford Authority reported earlier today. Now, The Blue Oval has opted to give the owners of models impacted by these very same issues with a rather long extended warranty to provide a little extra peace of mind.
That warranty spans 15 years, and it covers rearview camera-equipped vehicles that weren't included in this most recent recall, too. Those models may experience a malfunction of the rearview camera, which could impair the driver's ability to see behind the vehicle. Drivers might experience a distorted, inverted, and/or intermittent or persistent loss of image from the rearview camera. This can reduce or distort the driver's view of what is behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
This most recall covered the following models - the 2016 Ford Fusion, 2015-2019 Ford Flex, 2015-2016 Ford Escape, 2019 Ford Fiesta, 2015-2016 and 2018-2019 Ford Taurus, 2015-2016 Ford C-Max, 2020 Ford Mustang, 2015 Ford Explorer, 2015 Lincoln MKZ, plus the 2015 and 2019 Lincoln MKT. Ford will replace the rearview cameras in these vehicles free of charge, which it believes will solve the problem for good.
As for the 15-year extended warranty, it applies to a broader range of models that aren't covered under this or previously-issued recalls. Anyone with one of these vehicles that experiences rearview camera issues confirmed by a dealer will receive a replacement as well. That last consists of the following vehicles:
It would use those pickups to inspect roads and dams.
The rear brake pads may have been manufactured incorrectly.
The tiny little off-roader won't be sold in North America, however.
The Blue Oval just received a bit of relief in that regard, too.

I replaced my 2013 Ford C-Max’s rear view camera a year ago. At my expense. Ford would not cover it then and not know????
Why not the Lincoln Navigator? It's twin the expedition is covered.
