Ford Everest Outsells Toyota Rav4 In Australia

The latest-generation Ford Ranger and Everest have been hot commodities in Australia since the day both launched in that particular country years ago, and demand hasn’t exactly tapered off since, either. The Blue Oval's top two best-selling models in that country helped Ford Australia post its best monthly sales result in 16 years in June, ranking it second among all brands in that country, behind only Toyota. The Ford Everest managed to outsell its chief rival, the Land Cruiser Prado, that same month, but it isn't the only Toyota SUV it has surpassed.

According to Car Expert, the Ford Everest managed to squeeze past the Toyota RAV4 in September, outselling that model by a mere four units in Australia last month - 2,558 versus 2,554. That was good enough for fourth place among all models on sale in Australia, behind only the Ranger, Toyota Hilux, and Tesla Model Y, too. To date, the RAV4 has been Toyota's best-selling model in Australia, that country's most popular SUV, and its second best-selling vehicle, overall, in 2024.

There are a couple of caveats to this surprising news, however - for starters, the current-generation RAV4 is on the verge of being replaced by the all-new, next-generation model. It posted a whopping 50 percent month-over-month decrease in sales - likely due to the fact that inventory is drying up - while the Ford Everest was also down 11.9 percent. Through the first nine months of the year, the Everest has recorded 19,480 sales, trailing the RAV4, which has racked up 35,118 sales thus far.

Whether or not the Ford Everest can continue to rank ahead of the RAV4 in Australia remains to be seen, but it will be helped slightly by the fact that the next-generation version of the latter will be quite a lot more expensive than its predecessor - as much as $6,000, in fact, which could prompt certain shoppers to look elsewhere.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.

  1. The Ford Everest would also outsell Toyota in America if Ford would bring the Everest to the U.S. This statistic should be an eye opener to Ford executives. Ford please consider bringing the Ford Everest to the U.S.. Ford is missing a great opportunity! Thx

  2. Since Everest is much larger and more expensive than Rav4, it’s very telling that they’re that close to begin with.
