Though it’s still in its first year fielding the Ford Mustang GT3, Haupt Racing Team (HRT) seems to have the pony car-based racer dialed in. Not only does HRT boast several class victories in 2025, it can now add its first overall victory at the Nürburgring to its trophy case, having outclassed the entire field in the most recent NLS race, also known as the Nürburgring Endurance Series.
As per a report from SportsCar365, Vincent Kolb and Frank Stippler shared the No. 6 Ford Mustang GT3 in the four-hour sprint on the ‘Ring, rolling off the grid in 10th, battling back from a mechanical issue that almost sidelined them in the previous day’s race. The race car, which is built by longtime Ford partner Multimatic Motorsports, was quickly fixed and turned back out for competition at the Nürburgring the next day, all in one piece.
From there, Stippler and Kolb tag-teamed the No. 6 Ford Mustang GT3 all the way to first – not only in-class, but overall.
“In the end, it was a flawless team performance that made this victory possible,” said Ulrich Fritz, HRT managing director. “We are, of course, overjoyed about this historic success because it also shows that we are on the right track in our development program together with Yokohama.”
As a reminder, the Ford Mustang GT3 competes is various global sportscar and endurance racing series. This includes the GT World Challenge America and Europe, the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, the ADAC GT Masters, the FIA World Endurance Championship, the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters, and, of course, the NLS.
In fact, the Ford Mustang GT3 was one of the more highly sought-after race cars on the aforementioned circuits, attracting teams thanks to its success on track. The race car seems to finally be far removed of the issues that plagued it during its first few months of competition, wherein parts were physically falling off of it during races.
