Screens In Ford Buildings Hacked To Display Anti-RTO Message

Following the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020, the vast majority of “non-essential,” or white collar workers, suddenly found themselves out of the office and working from home. This continued for a period of years, but as of late, most companies – including Ford – have slowly transitioned workers back to the office. In fact, Ford is in the process of erecting a brand new, high-tech corporate headquarters as a way to entice new talent, but it seems as if at least one person isn’t happy with the company’s return-to-office policy.

In a recent post at Reddit, someone posted a photo of Ford’s meeting room screens sent to them by a Blue Oval employee, which had apparently been hacked. Those screens show an image of Ford CEO Jim Farley, with his face covered up by a large red “no” circle, accompanied by the text “F**ck RTO,” referring to the company’s return-to-office policy. The person who posted the image stated “Sent to me by a person who works there. All panels in the building were affected.”

Turns out, it wasn’t only these particular screens that displayed this message, either. According to The Autopian, “Ford Racing and Roush were hit too,” as an anonymous Blue Oval employee provided a little more context about how workers feel about the RTO policy, in general. “Upset level varies,” the worker said. “Some people bought homes farther away. Some people had a child, some people got a dog. We were promised that remote work is here to stay and people built their lives around that. An about face has real negative consequences for real people.”

Ford rolled out its four-day return-to-office mandate this past June, which – like it sounds – requires the automaker’s salaried workforce to report to the office four days per week. “Many of our employees have been in the office three or more days per week for some time now. We believe working together in person on a day-to-day basis will help accelerate Ford’s transformation into a higher growth, higher margin, less cyclical and more dynamic company,” a Ford spokesperson said at that time.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.

  5. Whoever thought work from home would be permanent is an idiot. No, you are not more productive working from home. If your were truly working from home you’d be availabe by phone or Webex immediately during work hours…and I’ve seen that is not remotely true. Yes, there is a lot more goofing around, running “quick” errands, cutting your grass, starting your weekend early. If you don’t want to work, find a new job, you won’t be missed.

  6. As a relatively new Ford employee, I made the decision to leave an incredible job because I was promised a 3 day per week schedule, and time at home is the most important thing to me. I can promise you that I am doing a fraction of the work that I used to do in response to this, specifically while in office. Currently watching the Tigers game. SMD

  7. Love reading the comments from people who are not qualified to work here too, “they should” holds up, but its funny, when I look up the names of the people saying “we”, they don’t show up in the company directory…… Hmmmm…….

Also hilarious that people think that the prerogative of every employee is to be as productive and efficient as possible. That is not real, my responsibility is to do the work I am responsible for, which I am fully capable of doing in [usually much less than] 3 days. Sorry some of you are slow and it takes you 40 hours to do these softball jobs.
