This 2011 Ford Escape Hybrid Lived A Very Long Life: Video

Vehicles are happiest on the move, and a few examples of the Ford Escape have really proved it. One hit 400,000 miles not long ago, but this 2011 Escape Hybrid just blew past it like it was standing still with a jaw-dropping 586,000 miles.

This 2011 Ford Escape ended up in the hands of Auto Parts City, an auto salvage and recycling facility in Chicago, Illinois. While it's probably bound for the scrapper, the crossover certainly had no shortage of life before its owner decided to throw in the towel. It's currently painted black, but whoever rattle-canned it didn't get every surface covered, showing that it began life in white.

At some point, it also appears that this 2011 Ford Escape was owned by a taxi cab company that had it painted yellow, if the underlayers of paint are anything to go by. It's not clear how long it spent with that company, but another cab company seems to have bought it and painted it lime green, too, meaning this vehicle likely never spent a day in the garage and not on the road.

The black paint, likely applied by its most recent owner before being scrapped, was probably the easiest solution to the lime green and other light colors that decorated this 2011 Ford Escape throughout its life. And even when it was dropped by the cab companies, it continued to serve as a people-hauler for Uber and Lyft until finally being retired.

All that said, this Escape certainly earned its keep throughout the 586,000 miles it racked up throughout its fourteen-year run. The VIN report reveals that it was, unsurprisingly, involved in four accidents during that time, and that it spent its entire life running up and down the East Coast of the U.S. And, yes, that odometer readout is accurate.

As for its modern descendant, the 2026 Ford Escape marks the end of the long-running nameplate's lifespan, although it's not available to buyers in all U.S. states.
