The annual Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show brings all manner of strange, fascinating one-off custom vehicles out to Las Vegas, Nevada for a few days of public exposure. The show is quite consistently anything but tame.
And then, as wild and daring as SEMA builds tend to be, there are always a select few that put the average show car to shame. Like this monolithic Ford Super Duty 6×6.
Trying to up the ante from the 2014 Mega Ram Runner 6-door pickup, “Heavy D” (Dave Sparks) dreamt up this terrifyingly colossal, 6-door, 6-wheel pickup truck built from a standard Ford Super Duty pickup. It has three independent-front suspension (IFS) axles, each of which receives torque from the engine, and each of which retains its ability to steer, meaning that this 30 foot-long, 20,000-pound truck has six-wheel drive, and six-wheel steering.
We estimate that watching such a tremendous machine “crab-walk” into a parking spot is just about the most bizarre sight one could hope to experience.
The diesel engine in this 6×6 Ford Super Duty beast has been fortified throughout, and is fed by ATS Compound turbochargers, pushing power up to about the 700 horsepower mark.
