If you’re a Ford Mustang owner who’s not a fan of the old-fashioned, factory hood prop rod, we have some good news; Ford Performance is offering a hydraulic lift kit for 2015 and later Ford Mustangs.
The kit comes with two hydraulic hood lift struts with laser-engraved Ford Performance logos, and everything else needed for installation. Ford Performance has even gone to the trouble to provide customers with the above video, showing the proper install procedure.
Equipping the S550 Ford Mustang with the new kit looks like a simple matter. First, the installer must install a lower bracket retainer into an existing hole in the front fender panel top, and an upper hood hinge strut mount which is fastened with the existing hardware. With both of those mounting points in place, the strut simply clicks into place, providing Ford Mustang owners with years of smooth, effortless, hood-lifting action.
One extra step is required on the passenger side, where the installer must cut a one-inch hole in the plastic battery cover using a template in order to accommodate the lower bracket retainer.
The 2015+ Ford Mustang hood lift kit from Ford Performance might not be at the top of everyone’s aftermarket wish list, but it’s a practical, functional enhancement that you’ll notice every time you lift the hood.
Any offers are currently unavailable on redesigned full-size SUV.
And they apparently committed to that poor decision.
Owners have proven to be quite loyal so far.

Though it has been in the same spot for nearly 70 years.
