The 2017 Ford Super Duty Offers Exclusive ‘Trailer Reverse Guidance’: Feature Spotlight

The all-new 2017 Ford Super Duty sets the bar higher with regard to available towing equipment, offering a “Trailer Reverse Guidance” feature which uses multiple cameras to make reversing with a trailer as smooth as possible.

The Ford Super Duty’s Trailer Reverse Guidance makes use of three cameras – one in the tailgate, and two on the door mirrors. Working in harmony, the cameras provide the driver with a live video feed showing a comprehensive view rearward, along with helpful color-coding and a diagram depicting relative trailer angle. Two new patents related to the system – one for a dynamic steering wheel icon, and one for the dual-purpose camera package – are pending.

Up to four additional cameras can be found on the Ford Super Duty, as well. That includes a high-mounted camera in the center brake light which shows a view of the cargo bed, and facilitates easier hookup especially with gooseneck and fifth-wheel trailers. It also includes a factory-available user-placed camera, which can be mounted on the rear of a trailer for improved visibility while reversing.
