Ford’s ST “Octane Academy” near Salt Lake City, Utah is just one of a multitude of performance driving schools for the sportscar enthusiast seeking to learn proper technique.
Recently, Ford Performance invited YouTuber “That Dude in Blue,” a.k.a. David Patterson, to give Octane Academy a go, and to share his experiences with the rest of us. You can watch the resulting video above.
Ford’s ST Octane Academy is hosted at the Ford Performance Racing School in Tooele, Utah, which boasts a 4.5-mile-long track with a total of 23 different corners – one of the longest road courses in North America. The program lets participants explore driving at the limit in their choice of either a Focus ST or a Fiesta ST, with a 30-minute classroom session, multiple on-track sessions, numerous targeted exercises, and a timed competition on an autocross circuit.
After making it through all of the above, David Patterson emerged from the Ford ST Octane Acadamy feeling confident that he’d been molded into a better, more competent driver. Check it out.
