Ford Motor Company has filed an application to register Energi as a trademark with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), Ford Authority has discovered.
Filed on August 28th, 2017, the application is assigned serial number 87586349 and specifies that the mark will be used in conjunction with “Motor vehicles; Electric vehicles; parts and engines for the foregoing; insignia badges for the foregoing.”
Ford currently offers the C-MAX Energi and Fusion Energi, as plug-in hybrid vehicles. However, this trademark filing suggests that The Blue Oval might be planning to introduce a dedicated energized vehicle or range of vehicles called Energi. It’s highly possible that FoMoCo was planning to call this vehicle the Model E, but has possibly given up on the those plans.
So… Ford Energi… we like the sound of that.
