Yes, you can give Ford’s cute, diminutive EcoSport crossover a more rugged, burly demeanor.
Just ask the folks at Vaccar, who built this “woodsman”-themed 2018 Ford EcoSport for the 2017 SEMA Show. Based on the 4WD Titanium model for North America, the custom Vaccar EcoSport makes do with the factory 6-speed automatic transmission and 2.0L four-banger, but that engine is abetted by a K&N Vaccar intake kit, Flowmaster Vaccar axle-back exhaust, and a JMS Chip & Performance PedalMAX to boost throttle response.
Bigger changes have come in the form of roof rail cross bars from the Ford Accessories catalog, Stage Series six-inch amber light bars from Diode Dynamics, a two-tone burgundy metallic and gloss black exterior coat with BASF paint, and custom bodywork from Vaccar’s Master Garage. Forged steel extended lug nuts from VMS Racing hold a set of König Runlite wheels with Continental TerrainContact A/T rubber. Inside, Kicker audio with a CX Series 600.1 mono amp and a 10-inch CompRT sub have been fitted, along with an SCT GTX WD monitor and a personal vault from The Club.
Ford Performance doesn’t seem likely to want anything to do with the 2018 Ford EcoSport, which is really too bad; an ST model with a 2.0L EcoBoost, 6-speed manual, and all-wheel drive would be an awesome addition to the lineup, and could compete directly Nissan’s hilariously fun Juke NISMO. In lieu of such a model, it’s good to know there are at least others out there who see the appeal in turning the EcoSport into something cool.
